| artist's bio: I was born in 1961 in Freeport, Texas, where the humidity is so thick you can slice it and mosquitoes are so big that they fly in formation. We moved around a bit while I was growing up. Angleton to Houston to Waco to New York, back to Waco, out to the country for awhile in Ross, Texas, then back to Angleton. My artistic interest was encouraged mostly by my mother when I was young who was probably inspired by my great grandmother who also enjoyed painting. |

High school sports kept me quite occupied through my teen years, but I signed up for Art I during my senior year. That was a very good move; Ben Ornelas had just been hired to teach the class and I still regard him as one of the most influential persons in my life. Ben's instruction and guidance paved the path for my career in the Visual Arts. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1983 focusing on Illustration and Graphic Design which included many hours of drawing, painting, and Art History. Since 1986 I've used my creative talents to provide in-house computer graphics, multimedia, and video production services to Abbott Laboratories, a major healthcare corporation. My painting activity though, allows me much more freedom of self expression than I can get in the corporate environment. My other interests that keep me busy are my wonderful wife Leesa, 4 kids, church activities, playing and singing Bluegrass music, and songwriting. |
